WHAT IS THE IELTS TEST FOR NURSES?

The IELTS test for Nurses, which comes from the abbreviation “International English Language Testing System“, verifies and attests the level of English knowledge of a nurse through four samples: spoken, reading, written and listening. The IELTS for nurses is the most renowned English language certification exam in the world. It is also a test that can offer you many opportunities especially in countries where the official language is English.

The IELTS test for nurses is one of two exams accepted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the United Kingdom (NMC) and the Irish Nursing Board (NMBI) to prove that a general nurse with completed studies within the European Union has an adequate level of English to be able to practice Nursing in full safety.

EXAM PARTS

Listening

The Listening module is also the first in this test and consists of four sections with 40 tasks to be completed within 30 minutes. For this part of the test, those examined must pay close attention to the recorded conversation that is played at the beginning of the test. This recording does not play for the second time, so the information should be retained as best as possible in the first attempt.

Reading

The Reading component consists of 40 questions, designed to test a wide range of reading skills.
IELTS Academic test – this includes three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the discursive and analytical. These are taken from books, journals, magazines and newspapers. They have been selected for a non-specialist audience but are appropriate for people entering university courses or seeking professional registration.
