Frequent questions

+ As a Nurse what kind of IELTS test I have to sit?

General nurses must obtain an IELTS Academic Certificate. General Training IELTS is NOT accepted by NMC.

+ What score does a nurse need to acheive in IELTS Academic to register with NMC?

EU general nurses need at least 7.0 out of 9.0 in all four test samples.

+ Why do i need so high note at IELTS Academic?

Following the consultations started in 2003, it was decided that 7.0 is the minimum mark that verifies an acceptable language level to pursue as a registered general nurse.

+ I obtained 6.5 in one of the IELTS samples. Can I still apply?

No. Each score must be at least 7.0, obviously average. The only possible way is if you have given the test 2 times within a maximum of 6 months and you have one of the two minimum grades 7.0 for each of the samples, even if you have taken the other 6.5.
However, if one of these certificates has one of the lower marks of 6.5 (eg 6.0), this certificate will not be considered, regardless of the grades obtained in the other evidence.
